How to Be a Blessing

How to Be a Blessing

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might. This verse from the Bible has always encouraged me when I was stuck and didn’t know what to do. It is my joy to be useful, and when I find myself in a place in life where I can’t live out my normal routine, I get really frustrated. Has that happened to you? Yet, when we keep our eyes open, we can always find creative ways to keep busy.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23

Pastor Ricardo Orsini spent several months this year lying in a bed, unable to do very much at all after open-heart surgery. Yet, he lived out this verse by praying for people, digging into the scriptures, spending time with his family, and spearheading new efforts behind the scenes. In fact, the leadership said that everything that was done while he was gone was still be his work.

Today, our church has plenty of things for you and me to do, too. There’s always something to sweep up, a pack of juices to purchase for our children’s ministry, a class to teach for every age group, or even the chance to encourage one another from our own homes through messages, texts, or phone calls. Remember, the point is that we are the church, the body of Christ, and we can keep that body in good shape by putting it to work doing what that body was called to do.

It’s not just a theory. I’m living it.

At the moment, I’m spending a lot of time in bed after foot surgery. I didn’t know what I would do to take up my time during these weeks, and I was nervous that I would feel useless. Yet, here I am, writing a blog for my church. As the Word says, I’m doing this work with my might. I hope that this blog accomplishes its goal. My prayer is that it will activate you to look around for your ministry work starting this very week. We are grateful for the excellent help our congregants provide, and I encourage you to join us in ministry.
